Violet’s Red Rose – Adding a background
Hi everyone!

Marika here with another card, today I’m using the newly released Violet’s Red Rose. When finished colouring her I knew I wanted to add a background of some sort, and got thinking about a simple rose bush like those you find in animated movies. So I googled and then I tested different techniques out on some spare cardstock. This is a great way of trying things out if you feel you want to add something more but scared to ruin what you already have made. After 4 different bushes I felt I was ready to try it out on the image. But if you want to add a bush but are a little unsure on how to, Make It Crafty have loads of wonderful background/scene stamps that you can use, and by lowering the¬†opacity of the lineart before printing you can get a similar effect.

When I finished colouring the image it was time to start thinking about the card. I looked through my chippies and found a cute chipboard word that spelled Smile and I thought that would fit this image perfectly. But I still needed the background, so I decided to continue with the bush idea and with distress ink just add another green depth to it. This is a very simple way to make your image stand out and truly be the focal image of the card.
